The Story of Riverbend Ranch

In 1992, Frank and his wife Belinda VanderSloot created Riverbend Ranch, embarking on a mission to establish the best Black Angus cattle herd in the United States. He started small in Southeast Idaho, and eventually began to hand select the very best cattle from across the nation investing millions of dollars and countless hours in selecting what is now the foundation of one of the top seedstock herds.

The Riverbend Ranch herd has been meticulously curated through a rigorous selection process using genomically enhanced EPD’s, evaluating muscle and skeletal soundness, and individual performance data, resulting in a herd that epitomizes excellence!
The operation gradually expanded its reach, encompassing vast acreage across multiple states, and today Riverbend Ranch totals approximately 290,000 acres of premium pastures and high-elevation ranch land through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Texas, and Utah.

When you see how much time and energy Frank devotes, it’s clear that cattle ranching is truly his passion. Frank has flown to auctions around the country to personally buy cattle and add them individually to improve the herd’s genetics. For such dedication and focus on quality, the Certified Angus Beef brand presented Riverbend Ranch with the 2016 Seedstock Commitment to Excellence Award.

Each year, Riverbend Ranch hosts some of the largest sales in the nation. Hosting 3 sales annually, it brings ranchers from all over the United States to Idaho Falls to invest in quality genetics.

Raised With Their Mothers

Riverbend Ranch calves are born in the spring and stay with their mothers from the day they are born. They grow up romping on rangeland and spend their second year roaming free in high mountain meadows.

Never Ever Promise

We don’t use growth hormones to make our cattle grow faster. The superior genetics of our cow herd give our calves all of the advantage they need to mature naturally without growth hormones. When animals with good genetics are raised in open pastures there is no need to administer antibiotics to keep them healthy. That’s why we can make our Never Ever promise: our animals are NEVER EVER given growth hormones or antibiotics—guaranteed!
